As a Lean leader, you might have to remind yourself – and your team – that Lean isn’t all about cutting. While sometimes economics and improvements can result in cutbacks in staff, it’s not always the case. As leader, you may already know that your IT teams are applying Lean principles like Kanban already, or that your engineering team is using Last Planner or set-based design. However, it’s probably timely to remind you that Lean isn’t something that is just hosted at the team level. For Lean to be effective and integrated throughout the system, it needs leaders who understand and buy into it. You, as leader, own that system.
